online tutorial - generating forms through the manipulation of trigonometry

i found this online tutorial on youtube which helped me generate this curved form through the manipulation of trigonometry. pretty cool knowing that you can generate curves mathematically and lofting these to make a surface which then can be played with to create new forms. . . .

sadly the video is no longer on youtube. . .well i cant seem to find it anymore on there but its worthwhile having a look at the other videos they have on youtube. . . .grasshopper3d.com also provides viable videos and tutorials that can be referred to. . .the links provided there are so useful especially for this theme. . .

the sliders attached to the components allow for deformation of the curves generated which could be helpful in the generation of an abstract tubular form. this can be applied to the generation of an abstract terminal form for the proposed terminal that i am working on. . . .with the basic definition produced from the video, i had some fun with this and added spheres to the surface subtracted the internal parts of these. . . . .

  1. It would be great to see variations of this with programmatic requirements informing the deformation of the tube and possibly the skin. I hope you make some models as well to test each variation out as you may find the physical models may give you some ideas that you were not expecting. Lets see some more!
